There's a word we keep coming back to at Alltwentyfour: kalon.
It's ancient Greek — and it doesn't translate neatly into English, which is part of why we love it. The closest approximation is something like "the beautiful and the good" — the idea that true beauty cannot exist without integrity beneath it. That what looks right must also be right.
We chose it as the name for our skincare range because we think it describes exactly what skincare should be.
The problem with "results-driven"
The beauty industry loves the phrase "results-driven". And we understand why — results matter. But results-driven, taken alone, can justify a lot. Harsh actives that strip the barrier. Fragrance that irritates. Formulas built around a single hero ingredient while the rest of the formula is filler.
We wanted a different standard. Not just: does it work? But: is it good?
Good for your skin over time, not just overnight. Good in the way it's made. Good in the way it feels to use. Honest about what it is and what it does.
What integrity looks like in a formula
For Kalon, integrity means a few things in practice.
It means we don't dress up a product with claims it can't support. It means every ingredient earns its place — nothing is there for the label, everything is there for your skin. It means we think about the full experience: the texture, the scent, the way a product sits in your routine without disrupting everything around it.
It also means we're honest when something is simple. A good cleanser doesn't need to be complicated. A well-formulated moisturiser doesn't need seventeen actives. Sometimes the most considered thing we can do is keep it clean.
Beauty that is both good and true
The ancient Greeks believed that kalon — the beautiful — was always also the good. Not beautiful despite being good, but beautiful because of it. The two were inseparable.
We think that's still true. And we think your skin deserves products built on that belief.
That's what Kalon is. That's what we're building.
